In October of each year, when the Supervision Study Program gets underway, senior supervisors in The Psychotherapy Institute Post-Graduate Training Program are welcome to join the Supervision Study Program (SSP) as consultants.
The program seeks experienced supervisors who:
To become a consultant, you must have supervised staff at The Psychotherapy Institute for a minimum of three years. If you have supervised fewer than five years, you will be expected to continue supervising in the Post-Graduate Training Program in addition to consulting in the SSP.
The Supervision Study Program is a two-year training program for experienced therapists. SSP supervisors receive an hour of individual consultation each week. They also meet in a weekly consultation group with up to five other supervisors and attend periodic didactic seminars.
Consultants meet monthly on the fourth Wednesday, from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. At this self-study group, attended by all consultants, we examine the experience of working with consultees, learn how the group consultation is evolving, and discuss readings on supervision. We recommend that new consultants attend meetings before being assigned an SSP supervisor in order to become integrated into the program and familiar with the syllabus of readings.
If you are interested in becoming a consultant or have further questions, please contact the chairperson of the Supervision Study Program or the Executive Director of the Institute.
